E-sport races – with Hungarians!

Although the Australian F1 GP was cancelled, two e-sport races were held on Sunday with F1 drivers in the field. On Friday they were just joking about completing the race via online simulator games, then it became reality by Sunday. The-race.com organized the race, where the best e-sport players were joined by professional drivers including Max Verstappen, or ex-F1 drivers, such as Juan Pablo Montoya and Nelson Piquet Jr. The Dutchman qualified for 9th place at the ‘Nürburgring’, but he span in the first lap of the race and finished 11th.
Besides the 40 invited star drivers 20 further places were up for grab, and the qualification brought tight battles. Gergő Báldi, online champion of WTCR Esports last year, competing in Norbert Michelisz’s team (M1RA) achieved the ninth best time and qualified. However, later on he could not manage to get into top 10.
In the evening there was another race at the Australian F1 circuit, where Lando Norris represented F1, but Stoffel Vandoorne and Thibaut Courtois, goalkeeper of Real Madrid were also among the participants.
Dani Bereznay, one of the most popular and well-known Hungarian e-driver, who has been competing at Alfa Romeo since the beginning of the season, claimed victory with an excellent performance ahead of his teammate, James Baldwin.
