Michelisz and Kiss together at the Hungaroring

Hungarian motorsport festival – reloaded. Some weeks ago we were sad to announce the cancellation of Super Racing Festival, scheduled for the end of April, featuring Norbert Michelisz, title-holder of WTCR and Norbert Kiss, two-time European truck racing champion.
Recently a silver lining appeared, and we started to hope to welcome both ETRC and WTCR at the Hungaroring. Since all three parties were open for a common agreement, by now it was reached: on 17-18 October Norbert Michelisz and Norbert Kiss may prove their abilities in front of home crowd. It has been made official by the calendar of WTCR, published today, including 16 races at 6 venues, exclusively in Europe.

Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt.: ‘We worked a lot to be able to organize this WTCR and ETRC double event. We did not want to let this idea gone, because we are speaking of a huge Hungarian motorsport festival. It is one the rare occasions we can see Norbert Michelisz, King of WTCR and Norbert Kiss, two-time European Truck champion racing on the same circuit. It is a great pleasure for us to announce that the Hungaroring is included in the calendar of both series and with the same date. The super duo event in October has become true via lots of liaising, but both partners desperately wanted it, because Hungaroring round brought one of the best races and the most spectators each year. We truly believe that this year will be the same.’

Norbert Michelisz, title-holder of WTCR: ‘I am very happy, it is simply amazing. I remember how I was devastated by the announcement on cancelling the race in April, because then it seemed that I was not going to race in front my home crowd as a title-holder. It would have hurt a lot. If I had had a wish regarding racing then, I would have wished a race here. It seems it will happen now and the most important race for me will take place. As a title-holder it will definitely be a special experience. Speaking of the date I do not think the weather will be much different than it was in April. And the atmosphere does not depend on weather, it is always fantastic at the Hungaroring.’

Norbert Kiss, two-time European truck racing champion: ‘I had already planned the end of April weekend since it had been announced last year. We were talking about the team that it was going to be huge for us and for the whole domestic motorsport community as well. I would have liked and I still would like to race in front of home crowd with Norbi Michelisz and Attila Tass, and it seemed it will come true. I am looking forward to being there at the Hungaroring.’
