Mercedes definitely killed the first pre-season F1 test, but what can we draw any conclusion for the upcoming season? We asked Norbert Michelisz, King of WTCR: ‘Last year I learnt that looking at the test results we cannot draw far-reaching conclusions. Although Mercedes seems to be the strongest competitor at the moment, last year Ferrari seemed to be the team to beat, but on the first race it was 7 tenths behind per lap. I have seen the video on the new technical solution of Mercedes, and I have read Vettel’s comment, too. He thinks that it is great to re-align the wheels by steering and it may have positive impact on straight running and tyre temperature. I presume, most probably, it is a smaller part of a broader context that nobody can see. However, it was also announced that this development would not be allowed to use from 2021, so the question is whether Mercedes wants to go forward to this direction and comes with it for the first GP.’
