WTCR and ETRC at the same weekend at the Hungaroring!

Super Racing Festival will take place at the Hungaroring at the end of April: Hungarian fans will have the chance to support both Norbert Michelisz, leader of WTCR and Norbert Kiss, two-time European truck racing champion during race conditions. Although any of them has changed series, on 24-26 April 2020 there will be a double race weekend with WTCR and ERC at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród. The Super Racing Festival is included in the provisional FIA calendar, but it is yet to be confirmed by FIA.
It is not the first occasion for the two series to be organized together, it already happened in Slovakia Ring last June, and worked very well, but two Hungarian star drivers will race at the same weekend for the first time ever.

‘We are preparing for a great motorsport festival, a real Hungarian party, where the spectators can see two of the most popular Hungarian drivers of our times, Norbert Michelisz and Norbert Kiss’ said Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. ‘A united event was already organized in Slovakia Ring and it seemed that the two series worked well together. We think it would be a great season opening on our circuit. It is an event of almost similar significance for us than F1 Hungarian GP to be held for the jubilee 35th occasion later this year. We will have some big surprises for the spectators at both events, and we would like to have a real festival feeling on the stands and in the paddock, too.’
Certainly, we asked both drivers about it, and they both were happy to hear the news.
Norbert Michelisz, current leader of WTCR: ‘I am super excited about the news. Firstly, because we have known each other with Norbi for a long time and we have a good relationship, secondly, because this way I even have a chance to watch him racing live at the Hungaroring. I think we have many common fans, but I hope that the super double treat will bring even more spectators. I already drove a truck in 2008, Balázs Szobi’s vehicle, and to tell you the truth, I loved it, but it was very different from the touring car. And in Slovakia Norbi Kiss took me a lap, it was awesome.’

Norbert Kiss, two time European truck racing champion: ‘It means that our season starts a bit earlier than usual, but I am happy that, at least, we do it home, at the Hungaroring. Hungarian fans will get a real racing festival, I am sure that there will be a fantastic atmosphere on the stands. We felt very well, too, when the two series raced together in Slovakia. There were some activities together with the touring car drivers, and it is sure that we will have some surprises next year, too. As of me, I am happy that there will be some fun to watch between my races.’
