Hungarian GP: 19th July!

Formula 1 World Championship 2020 will start with eight European races. According to the revised calendar announced by the international promoter today, the 35th Formula 1 Aramco Magyar Nagydíj is scheduled for 17-19 July.

F1 field will arrive to Hungary directly from Austria in the middle of July, where a closed event will be held.

‘We have been liaising for more than two months, we were talking about many dates, and finally our race has been included in the revised calendar with a date of 19th July’ confirmed Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. ‘Our company was flexible during the whole process, knowing that Hungaroring was ready to hold a race at any time, and we wanted to organize the 35th Magyar Nagydíj at all events. Certainly, we will respect the pandemic measures while holding the closed event, we will continuously liaise with the competent authorities, because we not only want to organize a great race, but to ensure that everyone feels safe in the paddock.’

 

Hard work behind the scenes of the forthcoming Hungarian GP, to be organized under particular conditions, is already taking place, and an online press conference will be held about the organizational challenges by László Palkovics Dr, Minister for Innovation and Technology, Zsolt Gyulay, CEO of Hungaroring Sport Zrt., Prof. Béla Merkely, rector of Semmelweis University and Zoltán Szujó, advisor of Ministry at 3pm on Thursday, 4 June.

 

The revised opening 2020 calendar of Formula 1 is as follows:

July 3-5: Formula 1 Rolex Grosser Preis von Österreich, Spielberg (Austria)

July 10-12: Formula 1 Pirelli Grosser Preis der Steiermark, Spielberg (Austria)

July 17-19: Formula 1 Aramco Magyar Nagydíj, Hungaroring (Hungary)

July 31–August 2: Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix, Silverstone (Great Britain)

August 7-9: Formula 1 Emirates 70th Anniversary Grand Prix, Silverstone (Great Britain)

August 14-16: Formula 1 Aramco Gran Premio de Espana, Barcelona (Spain)

August 28-30: Formula 1 Rolex Belgian Grand Prix, Spa-Franchorchamps (Belgium)

September 4-6: Formula 1 Gran Premio Heineken D’Italia, Monza (Italy)

Liberty Media will be finalising the details of the wider calendar and hopes to publish that in the upcoming weeks with an expectation of having a total of 15-18 races before completing the season in December.
